SEPA is a joint integrated European payment service for sending and accepting bank transfers denominated in Euro within the territory of the European Economic Area with applying common financial schemes, standards and procedures. SEPA stands for the Single Euro Payments Area; the EU implemented a payment integration initiative in order to simplify cross-border payments using the euro. Currently, there are 36 members of SEPA; this number includes countries which use the euro and those that have their own currencies and also contains countries that are not EU members. SEPA Direct Debit is a Europe-wide Direct Debit system that allows merchants to collect Euro-denominated payments from accounts in the 34 SEPA countries and associated territories..
